D.I.Y. - You Do It Yourself, But We Hold Your Hand Every Step Of The Way

If the cost of our "Conventional Representation" option is just a bit more than you can handle, or if you just want to handle some of your case yourself, the "Pro Se" option may be for you. Our divorce lawyers will provide you with up to an hour of time to help you review your options and decide how you want to proceed. A lawyer will review your matter to ensure there isn't anything you're missing. We'll then professionally prepare your documents, as well as prepare you for each step of the process. You'll be doing it yourself, but you won't be doing it alone.

Please note that all DIY cases will require a filing fee to be paid to the appropriate court. Our Full-Service plan includes this filing fee.

No Children or Property

An agreed divorce without property or children is the most simple and least expensive type of matter we handle. The key to this case is simply to make sure everyone cooperates with signing the documents. It's that simple. Typical fee will be $450. (Not including filing fees)

Including Children

Adding children to a divorce case will typically take your final order from about 7 to about 40 pages. Custody, Visitation, Child Support, and Health Care are all important issues that have to be resolved, and resolved right. When you add children, there are lots of issues and options. For the standard provisions, the typical additional fee will be $300.

Including Property

Adding real property (usually a marital home) to a divorce will require additional language in the final order, and usually additional documents to handle transfers and essential property record filings. A mistake here can be very costly not only to your pocketbook, but to your credit record. For a single home, the additional cost is usually $200.

Including Retirement

Retirement can be one of the largest assets in the parties estate. Even lawyers sometimes drop the ball when it comes to the division of retirement. There is no trivial way to handle retirement. Whether military retirement, FERS or private retirement, we can make sure it's done right. The cost for division of retirement will vary based on the type of account. The most expensive case is where a DRO (domestic relations order) or Qualified DRO is required. This will be the case for most pension plans. Typical additional cost for a DRO or QDRO is $750.

Traditional - Full Service - We Do It All, And At A Reasonable Cost

If you're looking for conventional, "full service" representation, our attorneys can handle your case from beginning to end. We will assist and advise you to determine what you need. We'll then prepare the necessary documents and handle all the necessary court appearances. This type of representation is the way attorneys usually handle legal matters. We've streamlined the process of handling the simple, easy divorce, to provide our clients with the best representation at the most reasonable fee possible. Use the "Select Divorce Type" form to get more information about the cost and details of your specific case.

No Children or Property

We can do a lot to help you handle your own case, but there isn't any substitute for having an attorney handle your case for you. For a reasonable fee, our lawyers will do it all. The usual fee for a divorce without children or property is $1400.

Including Children

Adding children to a full-service divorce case with standard provisions will increase the cost by $300. Some of the most difficult issues lawyers have are often in front of judges dealing with issues involving children. Let our lawyers worry about the tough issues. If children are involved, and you want standard provisions, add another $300 to the base price, for a total of $1700.

Including Property

Adding real property (usually a marital home) to a divorce will require additional language in the final order, and usually additional documents to handle transfers and essential property record filings. A mistake here can be very costly not only to your pocketbook, but to your credit record. For a home, with standard provisions, our fee will increase by $200.

Including Retirement

Finally, retirement is often the largest asset in the parties estate. Even lawyers sometimes drop the ball when it comes to the division of retirement. There is no trivial way to handle retirement. Whether military retirement, FERS or private retirement, we can make sure it's done right. Add $750 if your retirement will require a DRO (Domestic Relations Order), or a Qualified DRO (QDRO). Most pension plans will require a DRO, but for IRAs or other similar accounts, the expense may be less.
